How to judge whether the home socket is grounded?

1. Use the resistance profile of a multimeter to measure

We can use the multimeter's function of measuring the line resistance to detect the resistance of the wires in the house to determine whether the ground wire is effective.

The test requirement is that we choose a digital multimeter or a mechanical multimeter with accurate measurement values. We must first remove the ground wire at home from the zero row, and then prepare a piece of wire to connect to the long multimeter pen to use;

The specific method is: we first adjust the range of the multimeter to the resistance range, remember that it is the smallest resistance range; then connect one end of the multimeter needle to the ground wire removed from the distribution box, and connect the other needle with a wire go to the position to be measured, and then touch the other end of the ground wire with the multimeter needle to observe the reading of the multimeter. If the reading is less than or equal to 4Ω or close to zero, the ground wire is valid; if the reading is greater than 4Ω, the ground wire is invalid;

2. Measure with the voltage file of a multimeter

This method is to use the multimeter's voltage measurement function to detect whether the ground wire is effective. We should know that the voltage of the live wire to the neutral wire is 220V, and the voltage of the live wire to the ground wire is also close to 220V. This principle is used to detect whether the ground wire is effective. We first prepare a usable multimeter, and then power up the circuit at home, ready to measure;

The specific method is: we adjust the multimeter's range to the voltage range of 750V, and then use one of the multimeter's needles to touch the position to be measured, such as the live wire of the light switch socket or power outlet with switch, and the other test lead to touch the ground wire. If the multimeter's reading is close to 220V, then the ground wire is effective. If the multimeter reading is far less than 220V, then the ground wire is unqualified. If the multimeter reading is zero, then the ground wire in our home is simply fake; this method can only be operated with electricity, non-professional electricians should not try.

3. Direct contact between live wire and ground wire

This method is realized by using the function of leakage protection, so the premise is that the leakage protection is effective, and then we prepare a short-circuit wire outside, and power it on to test;

The specific method is: after the power is sent, we use a hard wire with a section of core exposed at both ends of the wire, and then use one end of the wire to touch the live wire jack of the multi plug socket with switch, and the other end of the wire to touch the ground wire jack; The ground wire is valid. If it does not trip, the ground wire is invalid.
